Memo to Housekeeping: some hotel guests actually walk around their room with no shoes on, just like they do at home.
What, no one told you? Well, now you know.
If you’re running a good hotel in a major city — not a beach resort — you can bet the room is the only place where they’re going barefoot.
So when we step into the shower, we aren’t wondering where those mysterious black footprints came from. We know: they came from walking barefoot on your carpet.
It’s not that hard. You might actually have to take the room out of circulation for a day. But please — get the carpet shampooer in there on a regular basis. Do a rota. Make a list. Or do it opportunistically, when rooms are unoccupied, and keep track. Whatever works for you.
Dirty feets in clean white sheets: not a good look.
(This means you, five stars in Denver and four stars in Manhattan: clean up your act.)
